Adelante Autismo

Adelante Autismo is part of Spectrum and the Latinx Disability Association. They offer sessions that teach advocacy skills to families. Spectrum is centered in Gwinnett county and serves the surrounding region.

Atlanta Legal Aid

Atlanta Legal Aid Society provides free civil legal help to people who cannot afford a private attorney. Families must meet low-income guidelines. Services are available in Spanish at 404-377-5381. Atlanta Legal Aid Society is based in Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties.

Autismo, Pequeños Corazones Gigante

Autismo, Pequeños Corazones Gigante is a group of Atlanta families who have a child or family member on the autism spectrum. Their goals are to build support, inclusion, respect, and empathy among families and from the community through community events.

Autismo Apoyo

Autismo Apoyo is a collection of resources about autism. This resource offers general information about autism and navigating autism supports in Georgia and beyond.

Babies Can't Wait

Babies Can’t Wait offers therapy services for children with delays or disabilities under 3 years old. These therapies include families. Call 888-457-4769 to start therapies. Babies Can't Wait serves families across Georgia.

Bridges to Understanding is a share and support group. They provide support to families of children with disabilities including siblings. Bridges to Understanding is based in Cobb county and serves the metro Atlanta area.

Debbie Dobbs Advocacy, LLC

Debbie Dobbs is a consultant who helps families when they run into barriers in the special education system or in accessing the Katie Beckett Deeming Waiver. This website includes free resources and information on fee-based consultations.

Family Support Services

If a child is 4 or older and has a disability, their family can apply for financial help. Family support funding can cover therapies, respite care, summer camps, and medical equipment. Families apply in the county where they live.

Georgia Crisis and Access Line

The Georgia Crisis and Access Line (or GCAL) is an emergency support system for people living in Georgia. Call GCAL at 1-800-715-4225 if someone is in danger and needs immediate help.

The Georgia Parent Support Network provides education and advocacy for children with disabilities like autism and their families. Services offered span Georgia.

Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia

The Hispanic Health Coalition of Georgia provides education on health and healthcare provider connection. They also advocate for policies that help the health of Hispanic families. They are based in Gwinnett county and serve all of Georgia.

Latin American Association

The Latin American Association focuses on supports and resources for Latino families with and without disabilities. Resources focus on health, wellness, family well-being, and immigration services. The Latin American Association is based in Dekalb, Gwinnett, and Whitfield counties.

Neverland Adaptive Aquatics

Adaptive swimming programs help children with disabilities learn water safety. Neverland Adaptive Aquatics is based in Forysth county.

Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver helps families protect and find children and adults who wander or run away, including autistic children. These supports are provided through county sheriff's offices. Call 1-877-580-LIFE to find local supports.

Shine Autism

Shine Autism holds webinars and community events. They also lead events at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport where families practice boarding an airplane. Shine Autism is based in Henry county and supports the surrounding region.

Special Education Help Desk

The Special Education Help Desk is a resource line for special education questions and support. They provide guidance for all counties. Call 404-656-3963 or email at SPEDHelpDesk@ doe.k12.ga.us.

Spectrum offers support groups, summer and overnight camps, social groups, respite, and family events.They also support autistic and neurodivergent parents. Spectrum is based in Gwinnett county and supports the metro area.

AngelFish Georgia

Adaptive swimming programs help children with disabilities learn water safety. AngelFish Georgia is based in Gwinnett county.

Autism in Black

Autism in Black in a national organization focused on supporting African American or Black families with autistic children. They offer advocacy education and education on supporting autistic children and adults.

Autism Toolkit of Georgia

The Autism Toolkit of Georgia offers resources on autism and Georgia supports. The toolkit includes information about autism in young children through adults. It also includes a growing directory for finding supports and therapies across Georgia.

Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network

The Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network is a national organization focused on community support for autistic people across the lifespan. Resources include materials for parents of newly diagnosed autistic children.

Blonder Family Department of Special Needs

The Blonder Family Department of Special Needs connects people with disabilities and their families. This organization offers summer camps, family events, preschool supports, and sports programs. Programs are based in Dekalb county and serve the Atlanta metro area.

CHRIS 180

CHRIS 180 supports children, youth, adults, and families. CHRIS 180 offers mental health counseling, family and community support programs, and supports for youth in foster care and individuals experiencing homelessness. CHRIS 180 focuses on the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Easterseals North Georgia

Easterseals North Georgia offers therapy and preschool programs for children with disabilities. They also provide family supports. Easterseals has metro Atlanta and Athens area locations.

FOCUS helps families with children with medical needs and disabilities like autism. They offer workshops, parent groups, camps, and family activities. They can also help with grants for medical equipment. FOCUS is based in Dekalb county and serves the metro Atlanta area.

Georgia Head Start

Georgia Head Start has preschool programs for children who are 3 and 4 years. Some Head Start centers have preschool options for children under 3. Head Start serves families across Georgia counties.

Grupo Salto

Grupo Salto is a support organization based in Chicago focused on supporting Spanish speaking families with autistic children. Grupo Salto provides regular virtual learning sessions open to all families.

InCommunity

InCommunity provides supports for children and adults with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. These supports include events bringing families together, crisis supports, and financial help. InCommunity is based in Dekalb county and serves the metro Atlanta area.

Lekotek Georgia

Lekotek Georgia provides adapted toys, educational materials, and computer equipment to help all kids play. Lekotek has locations in Cobb, Dekalb, Fayette, Gwinnett, and Hall counties.

Parent to Parent of Georgia

Parent to Parent connects parents who share similar experiences across Georgia. Parent mentors give support, provide guidance, and explain services to families. Families can request help from mentors in their county.

Pure Hearts of Georgia

Pure Hearts of Georgia connects families of children with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. They provide educational and family-focused programming. Pure Hearts of Georgia is based in Fulton county.

Southside Support connects families of children with disabilities. It also connects families to providers and resources through a resource directory. Programming spans South Fulton, Coweta, Fayette, Clayton, Henry, and Spalding counties.

Special Needs Respite

Special Needs Respite is a charity in Georgia that helps support the cost of respite care. These supports pay family members or other people families choose to provide respite.

Telic Empowerment hosts webinars and community events. They focus on advocacy, finding resources, and family support events. Telic Empowerment supports the metro Atlanta area.

Atlanta Autism Consortium

The Atlanta Autism Consortium brings together autistic people, educators, and families through learning events. Many events are held virtually for people across Georgia.

Autismo Día a Día

Autismo Día a Día brings together and supports neurodivergent families. They provide educational events and family-focused programming. Autismo Día a Día is based in Gwinnett county and serves the metro Atlanta area.

The North American Autism Wonders chapter connects African and Caribbean immigrant families with autistic children. They offer support groups and general resources. Many Autism Wonders families live in Georgia and South Carolina.

Autistic Self Advocacy Network

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network is a national organization focused on community support for autistic people across the lifespan. Resources include materials for parents of newly diagnosed autistic children.

Bobby Dodd Institute

The Bobby Dodd Institute provides programs and consultation services for disabled children and adults. They help families access family support services and find other financial resources. They are based in Fulton county and support families across Georgia.

Color of Autism

The Color of Autism is a national organization that connects African American or Black families of autistic children. They offer support groups, advocacy education, and education on supporting children's needs.

Extra Special People

Extra Special People offers year-round recreation for children with and without disabilities and their families. This includes sports programs, summer camps, and family events. Programs are available in Floyd and Clarke counties as well as the Atlanta metro area.

The GAPS Society

The GAPS Society connects BIPOC autism families. They hold community events including an annual Juneteenth celebration and monthly support groups. The GAPS Society serves the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership connects mentors to parents of children who are 3 or older with disabilities. Mentors offer advice on special education and finding financial support and services within their counties.

Hispanic Alliance of Georgia

The Hispanic Alliance of Georgia offers services and programs for Latino children and families. Their resources include an application for financial help and answers to common questions about Medicaid. They are based in Fulton county and serve all of Georgia.

LaAmistad

LaAmistad supports Latino students and their families in the Atlanta metro area. The group offers school tutoring, parent education, English language courses, and summer programs.

Life with the Spectrum

Life with the Spectrum provides videos on resources and organizations for autistic people in Georgia.

Project GRANDD offers grandparent support groups and education. They also help families connect with services. Project GRANDD offers events specific to Dekalb, Cobb, and Fulton counties as well as across the state.

The Rockdale County Autism Support Group offers support, education, and resources to autistic people and their families. They coordinate parent groups and community events for families in Rockdale county.

SPARK Atlanta

SPARK Atlanta offers autism resources and information on community events. It includes resources for young children through adults. Families can request help from the social work team at the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta. SPARK Atlanta shares national and state resources.

Special Olympics Georgia

The Special Olympics Young Athletes program is for children with and without disabilities ages 2 to 7 and their families. Activities focus on teaching teamwork and sports skills like running, kicking, and throwing.

Georgia WIC

Families can receive financial help to pay for the cost of healthy foods. WIC also offers support on nutritional eating. Families must create an account and show financial need. This resource is available for all Georgia families.
